Life is a circle; we move forward and suddenly we find ourselves back at the beginning. As time passes, we long for simple, organic, and natural things. Each experience is a germinating seed. In the end, we can always mend the story. Ely Lugo
Healing Maps "Healing Maps" is the name of a series of artworks that I can describe as a work of connection between something I feel flowing through me. I am the vessel, the channel through which that idea is transmitted. The process of creating these pieces is a spontaneous ritual of balance. I work within a circle as a symbol of wholeness and infinity. Then, I seek to break the order within the circle without using conventional patterns or techniques. I simply flow with the shapes and/or textures as I feel and distance myself from the ego. I let the piece itself guide me. It is rather a work that reflects the natural movement between silence, coherence, and chaos.
Sometimes I use only neutral colors, other times bright colors, and I can add materials that inspire me and are available at the moment. But always following that inner impulse. Afterward, like any other viewer, I step back from the piece to observe the result and create my own story.
(This is one of two pieces of art that I had the great opportunity to donate for the fundraiser that was used for the adoption and training of a Service Dog for a teenager with disabilities and raffled off in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on August 16, 2019. What is art if we don't serve through it?)

La vida es un círculo; avanzamos y de repente nos encontramos de nuevo en el principio. Con el paso del tiempo, anhelamos cosas sencillas, orgánicas y naturales. Cada experiencia es una semilla que germina. Al final, siempre podemos recomponer la historia. Ely Lugo
"Healing Maps" (Mapas Sanadores) es el nombre de una serie de artes que yo puedo describir como un trabajo de conexión entre algo que yo siento que fluye a través de mi. Yo soy el recipiente, el canal por el cual se trasmite esa idea. El proceso de creación de estas piezas es un ritual espontáneo de equilibrio. Trabajo dentro de un círculo como símbolo de totalidad e infinito. Luego, busco romper el orden dentro del círculo sin usar patrones ni técnicas convencionales. Simplemente fluyo con las formas y/o texturas según voy sintiendo y me alejo del ego. Dejo que la misma pieza me dirija. Es más bien un trabajo que refleja el movimiento natural entre el silencio, la coherencia y el caos.
A veces uso solo colores neutros, otras veces colores brillantes y puedo añadir materiales que me inspiran y que estén disponibles en el momento. Pero siempre siguiendo ese impulso interior. Después, como cualquier otro espectador, me alejo de la pieza para observar el resultado y crear mi propia historia.
(Esta es una de dos piezas de arte que tuve la gran oportunidad de donar para la recaudación de fondos que se usaron para la adopción y entrenamiento de un Perro de Servicio para un adolescente con discapacidades y rifada en San Juan Puerto Rico el 16 de agosto de 2019. ¿Que es el Arte si no servimos a traves de el?
